Wine Cooler Refrigerators
Wine is one of the few things that improve with age, but it is as temperamental to store as it is enjoyable to drink. If it is stored improperly its life will be dramatically shortened. Your once wonderful wine will be stale, bland, and will have little in common with its former self.
Wine cooler refrigerators are an excellent way to store and protect your wine until you are ready to drink it. They maintain a perfect 55 degree temperature, slowly cool your wine, and keep in humidity to protect the cork. They also keep the wine safe from light exposure from all light sources and from vibrations.
The average wine drinker doesn’t take the time to properly store their wine or simply doesn’t know how. Learn the enemies of your wine and how they attack your wine. Then you will be able protect it from them.
Wine is very sensitive to all types of light, vibration, heat, temperature fluctuations, and air. Exposure to any of these things will diminish the quality or destroy the wine all together. Wine is also sensitive to humidity loss and flavor invaders.
Light causes wine to pickle and become rancid tasting. Most manufactures try to counter this with tinted bottles to keep out sun light. This is only partially effective and the wine owner still needs to keep it away from all types of light.
Red wine has sediment in it that needs to settle to the bottom in order to bring out its flavor. Vibration causes the sediment in the wine to stay suspended instead of settling to the bottom. Wine can pick up vibrations from distant appliances, traffic, generators, or even motors.
Heat can destroy the integrity of a stored wine and can be worse than any of the other threats to wine. The wine becomes spoiled and tastes rancid even if it’s never been opened. Temperature fluctuations cause the same effects.
Humidity is very important to your wine because it will protect the cork. The cork helps to keep all the flavor and aroma inside the bottle while keeping the air out. Without humidity the cork will dry out and allow air into the bottle.
Air will cause the wine to oxidize or age poorly like a fresh cut apple that is left out and turns brown. The beautiful color of your wine will be tainted and the flavor will be lost. Why invest in a good quality wine just to let it slowly die.
Wine needs to breathe in order to age properly. As your wine breathes it will absorb the air around it. If there are any odors or random flavors around it they will be absorbed as well changing the overall taste of your wine.
Now that you know wine’s enemies you can find a storage solution that avoids all of these things. A wine refrigerator however, will prove to be the best possible solution.
